Parts of Speech

A noun(संज्ञा) is a part of speech that denotes Person, Animal, Thing, Place or Idea. (Remember: TIPPA ) They tell us what we are talking about.
Must Know : The English word noun has its roots in the Latin word nomen, which means “name.”
Example: The words cat, rock, India , it , man, woman, teacher, Smith , Priyanka are nouns.
Types Of Nouns
A common noun is the word used for a class of person, place or thing.
Examples: car, man , bridge, town, water, metal, ammonia
Nouns have different classifications as well -
A proper noun is the name of a person, place or thing. A proper noun always starts with a capital letter. For example:
A collective noun is the word used for a group of people or things.
Our team is enjoying an unbroken winning streak.
There’s a pack of hyenas outside.
Watch out for that swarm of bees.
You haven’t lived until you’ve seen a herd of wild horses.
Our class graduates two years from now.
