### What is the variables

An element, that may vary or change using that we can create any equation and which is represent by x, y, z etc.

- Example: 3x + 27y = 40 is variable.

- Example: 2y + 5x = 12 is variable.

### What is the constant

A value of constant is fixed and not change is called as constant.

Examples:

7x+4y=44 here 7,4,44 are constants values.

3a+2b=99 here 3,2,99 are constant values.

In each of the following questions two equations are given. Solve these equations and give answer :

A) if x >= y, i.e x is greater than or equal to y

B) if x > y, i.e x is greater than y

C) if x <= y, i.e x is less than or equal to y

D) if x < y, i.e x less than y

E) if x = y,or no relation can be established between x and y

Question 1:

Equation I: +5x+6=0

Equation II:+7x+12=0

Solution: A

I. +5x+6=0

=>+3x+2x+6=0

=>x(x+3)+2(x+3)

=>(x+2)(x+3)

x=-2 or x=-3

II. +7y+12=0

=>+4y+3y+12=0

=>y(y+4)+3(y+4)

=>(y+3)(y+4)

y=-3 or y=-4

Therefore x is greater than y

Question 2:

Equation I : -19x+84=0

Equation II:-25y+156=0

Solution: C

I. x^{2} – 19 x + 84 = 0

=> x^{2} – 12 x – 7 x + 84 = 0

=> x(x – 12) – 7 (x – 12) = 0

=> (x – 7) (x – 12) = 0

So, x = 7 or x = 12

II. y^{2} – 25 y + 156 = 0

=> y^{2} – 12 y – 13 y + 156 = 0

=> y(y – 12) – 13 (y – 12) = 0

=> (y – 13) (y – 12) = 0

So, y = 12 or 13

Therefore ,x is less than or equal to y
